Come on, summer...let's go!

I am really starting to get nervous about the likelihood of this summer being a hot one.
We now have a pool and it's opening in a matter of days. The sun is shining but it's hardly warm enough for me to warrant jumping into my swimsuit and dashing across the yard.
I am hoping that this card will rally the warmth of the sun.

Supplies: Core'dinations cardstock (Core Impressions - Cosmo Cricket Classics Collection, Essentials), Jillibean Soup kraft paper and twine, October Afternoon diecut and cardstock stickers), Helmar layering tape, We R' Memory Keepers Corner Chomper, Making Memories sanding block and other: sewing machine and thread.

Ice cream party, anyone?

This morning my ice cream party invitations went up over on the Jillibean Soup blog. Core'dinations makes collections of cardstock called Core Impressions and the French Roast brown grid paper in this project is included in the Jillibean Soup Collection. When I saw it I immediately thought of waffle cones...mmmm....waffle cones.
How many more sleeps till summer?

Supplies: Core'dinations cardstock (Core Impressions - Jillibean Soup Collection), Jillibean Soup patterned paper and kraft paper, Helmar layering tape, Making Memories sanding block, Font: Mason. The image of the ice cones can be found at: http://www.crayola.com/free-coloring-pages/print/ice-cream-coloring-page/

Hannah's brother from another mother, Pete

Well, you may remember Hannah. Hannah is the daughter of a friend of mine. She is in grade six this year and last March created this mini-album about her dog, Pete. This March Hannah created these snazzy Valentine's Day cards.
I offered about a month ago to take some photos of her dog, Pete, in full action along his favourite walking trail. This is the layout that I created from those photos. I am on the hunt for a decent looking 12" x 12" frame right now so I can give this layout to Hannah and her family.

Supplies: Jillibean Soup patterned paper, kraft paper, kraft shipping tag, corrugated alphas and cardstock stickers, Stampin' Up! circle, scalloped circle punches, heart and binder punches, We R' Memory Keepers Corner Chomper, Tsukineko ink, Helmar layering tape, and Font: Mason.

A springy card and...

...winners. Yep. Winners.
I just couldn't pick randomly one woman who deserves a break.
So, on that note:
Janet, dstandard, wendipooh13, janaemadsen, rosemaryschild, and Judy...
Please contact me (thehodgees@yahoo.ca) and drop me the name and mailing address of the woman that you told me about in your posting. I will get a bookmark and Kit Kat off to those ladies as fast as possible so that they can have a break, even if it only lasts for a moment.
In other scrapping news, this card of mine appeared on the Jillibean Soup blog today.
Supplies: Core'dinations cardstock (Essentials and WhiteWash), Jillibean Soup patterned paper, kraft paper and stickers, Quickutz die (boots and puddle), EK Success punches (flowers used as clouds), Making Memories sanding block, Helmar layering tape, Tsukineko ink and other: sewing machine and thread.

"She deserves a break today" contest!

You know who I am talking about.
She is the woman who never seems to stop.
Every time you talk to her she has just painted a room, or is in the midst of baking four loaves of bread, or has just stuffed and licked 400 envelopes for charity.
She is that woman - the woman who needs a break today.
For me that is my mother. She never stops.
With Mother's Day rapidly approaching I thought I would offer a special sort of contest.

The Rules:
1. You must comment on this blog entry on or before Sunday, May 9th, 2010, by 5pm EST.
2. You must name the woman (i.e., mother, sister, neighbour, etc.) and mention why you think she deserves a break today.
3. You must be prepared to share with me (through private email) this woman's mailing address if she is picked.

The Prize:
A bookmark made by me and a Kit Kat bar....mailed right to her. The bookmark will remind her to take time for herself and the chocolate bar...well....do I really need to elaborate?

For my mother, I made this card because, although it's Mother's Day, I really just want to say thank you for all she does for me and my family.

Supplies: Core'dinations cardstocks (Core Impressions - Cosmo Cricket collection, Essentials), Jillibean Soup kraft paper and twine, October Afternoon patterned paper and journaling card, SRM sticker ("Thanks you're the best!), Stampin' Up! circle and scalloped circle punch, Making Memories sanding block, We R' Memory Keepers Corner Chomper, and 3L layering tape.
